Rajasthan Royals (RR) opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed the fastest half-century in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday.

With RR chasing a target of 150, Jaiswal breached the 50-run mark in 13 deliveries, breaking the record which has held jointly by Pat Cummins and KL Rahul (14 balls).

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh was impressed with Jaiswal's counter-attacking knocking, and said that he would pick the youngster straightaway in the Indian team for the ODI World Cup. "Yashasvi Jaiswal isn't just knocking at the doors of the Indian Cricket Team, he seems to be breaking it with his consistently good performances.

He's carried his imperious form of domestic cricket into IPL. What a talent he is! The future of Indian Cricket is in good hands," Harbhajan said on Star Sports.

Michael Hussey feels it is "hard to see past Virat Kohli" if India are to win the World Test Championship final against Australia at the Oval in London from June 7. Besides Kohli, skipper Rohit Sharma will be key to India's chances in the WTC final, the former Australia batter said. "It's hard to see past Virat Kohli. He (Kohli) is obviously coming back into some great form again in all forms of the game really, so both he and Rohit Sharma with the bat are going to be important for India," Hussey told the ICC website. Kohli is back to his best and recently scored back-to-back hundreds in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Former Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri believes that the team composition for India can be extremely helpful in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Oval and the presence of three fast bowlers and two spinners will allow skipper Rohit Sharma to control the game against Australia. In a recent interaction, Shastri said that the overcast condition in England during June will be of help to the pacers and their performance can allow India to win the coveted title.
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has picked his XI for the Rohit Sharma-led side ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) against Australia, starting from June 7 at the Oval in London. Shastri, who coached India to the WTC Final in 2021, picked Ajinkya Rahane in his probable XI, while also admitting that Jasprit Bumrah's absence will hurt India's chances in the game. Rahane has looked in great touch in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, and was recalled to the side after an injury to Shreyas Iyer.
Former Indian head coach and cricketer Ravi Shastri revealed his combined Indian Test XI selecting players from the two ICC World Test Championship finalists, India and Australia. The WTC final is now a fortnight away. In the recent episode of the ICC Review, Shastri admitted that he found the task of building a combined playing XI difficult due to the sheer amount of world-class talent available on both sides. But the India great stuck his neck out and settled on a final XI, in which surprisingly only four Indian players could make the cut.
Former India cricketer Ravi Shastri has backed out-of-form Mumbai Indians' (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma to do well in a must-win game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and said that fellow Mumbaikar does not need any motivation to come out of his lean patch. Speaking on Star Sports Studio, Ravi Shastri said, "Rohit doesn't need any motivation. It is Rohit's bad luck that runs are not coming out of his bat and he is getting out after playing two or three balls. But once runs start flowing out of his bat then it will be difficult to stop him. This is a different guy."
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar feels Rajasthan Royals opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is ready to represent India, especially in T20Is. Jaiswal is enjoying a breakthrough season in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and scored his maiden century in the tournament earlier this month. The 21-year-old is currently the third-highest run-scorer in the season, only behind Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis (702) and Gujarat Titans' star opener Shubman Gill (576). Gavaskar suggested that Jaiswal is a technically sound batter and deserves a chance in the Indian team.
