Gillingham’s pre-season plans are sorted and they include a short trip abroad. The club are expected to announce their summer itinerary in the coming days - once kick off times are agreed - and whether fans can watch them play on European soil.

Several games against Kent sides have already been announced but there will be two matches at Priestfield against higher-ranked opposition.

Anticipation for the new season is already high. Fans have been snapping up season tickets in bigger numbers than in recent years, with the Gills reporting 65% of seats in the Rainham End have already been claimed.

Manager Neil Harris has given an indication of what fans can look forward to during July when the players face warm-up games ahead of the new League 2 season.

India should learn from their past mistakes and not think twice before leaving one of their premier spinners out of the playing XI for the World Test Championship final against Australia if the conditions demand, said former England skipper Nasser Hussain. The spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin didn't make much of an impact two years ago when India lost to New Zealand by eight wickets in a rain-hit final of the inaugural edition. According to Hussain, India made the blunder of reading the conditions wrong the last time and shouldn't repeat the mistake this time as they eye their maiden ICC title in 10 years. "I think India, as they showed in Australia, can win in any conditions,” Hussain said on The ICC Review.
