Gartcairn Women will clash with derby rivals Hamilton Accies in the SWPL1 play-off final next month, hoping to earn promotion in only their second year as a team.

The Airdrie side finished runner-up in SWPL2 on Sunday, to book their place in the play-off at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld on Sunday, June 4, for a place in the top flight.

A 3-0 win over Stirling University - courtesy of goals from Georgina McTear, Mhairi Hawksworth and Ami Robertson - was enough to claim the points, fend off rivals Kilmarnock, and ensure a second-placed finish.

Gartcairn, whose women's side are only in their second season, will now fight it out with SWPL1 side Accies, who finished second-bottom of Group B in SWPL1, two points behind rivals Dundee United, following a 1-1 draw at Gussie Park on Sunday.
