Callum McGregor is convinced Ange Postecoglou can lead Celtic to the final of a European competition. And the Parkhead captain, who will win his 20th senior medal if his side beats Inverness Caledonian Thistle in next month’s Scottish Cup final, admits it would be a dream come true to emulate Martin O’Neill’s class of ‘03, who got to the UEFA Cup final in Seville.
McGregor isn’t predicting a Champions League triumph but is adamant Celtic want to make a big impression in next season’s premier Euro tournament - and is adamant that reaching a final in one of the competitions is within Postecoglou’s capability.
Asked if the Aussie could be the man to follow in O’Neill’s footsteps, he said: “I think we all hope so. We see how everybody in the building works and how he works.
He’s very on the ball in terms of recruitment and things like that. He’s always trying to push the club forward and he’s a real strong figurehead for the club which is exactly what this club needs. “We just try to get better every time that we’re together.
