Woman ecstatic with £3 charity shop Ralph Lauren find – until awkward discovery

Discovering a high-ticket item in a charity shop can be quite a triumph.

Imagine finding a nearly £200 Ralph Lauren jumper that's just not within your current spending limits. That's exactly why one shopper was over the moon to snag one for a mere £2.99 at her local charity shop.

She described the bargain jumper as oversized, reaching down to her thighs and the ideal cosy piece for autumn – until she made a regrettable mistake.

"A first-world problem, but a tragedy nonetheless" Jess titled her TikTok video, where she emotionally recounted how she inadvertently ruined her bargain designer find "without thinking".

She explained that she bought the jumper in size XL for £2.99 and it was really too big for her but she wore it as a dress, but then she accidentally shrunk it in the wash, leaving it looking extremely small.

"I accidentally put it in the washing machine" she emphasised, admitting she "forgot it was in there". Holding it against herself, she said: "Look at it, for context, I'm four foot 11" and now it appeared tiny in comparison.

Jess pondered if she could "still get away with wearing it" as a "cute cropped knit" since it seemed closer to her actual size after the shrinkage.

She expressed her disappointment at spoiling the garment, feeling like she had stumbled upon "gold dust" when she initially purchased it at such a steal, lamenting that she wouldn't be able to replace it due to its usual retail price.

Jess described the shrunken jumper as feeling "dense and horrible", but she still managed to squeeze into it. "I look like a greyhound", she quipped, adding that it appeared to be "made for a toddler".
