Manchester United have one way to solve Casemiro problem and Jose Mourinho could help

"Leave the football before the football leaves you. The football has left him at the top level."

That was the scathing verdict from Jamie Carragher on Casemiro last season and those comments re-surfaced on Sunday afternoon when Manchester United were gunned down by their fiercest rivals. Casemiro was (particularly) off the pace against Liverpool and his alarming display re-flagged up familiar concerns.

But there's some balance to be struck up when it comes to determining Casemiro's future, although United have a potential get-out to explore. Step forward Jose Mourinho and other managers in Turkey.

Clubs across Super Lig are able to do business until September 13 and high-profile deals have been sanctioned by Galatasaray and the like beyond the August 30 cut-off for major European nations. Victor Osimhen - who failed to secure his dream move to the Premier League this summer - has to settle for a loan switch to Istanbul instead and there's mounting speculation in Turkey that Galatasaray also have Casemiro in their crosshairs.

Mourinho, in charge across the city at Fenerbahçe, might also be monitoring the situation at Old Trafford.

United made their feelings on Casemiro abundantly clear this summer when putting a new defensive midfielder at the top of their shopping list. Manuel Ugarte was identified as the prime target in that chase and he eventually put pen-to-paper on transfer deadline day for an initial £42.3million from PSG.
