Victor Lindelof named in Team of the Week as two Manchester United stars 'way off pace' vs Luton

BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks named Victor Lindelof in his Premier League Team of the Week after the Manchester United defender's winning goal vs Luton.

Lindelof fired home just before the hour mark after United had kept a set-piece alive to hand Erik ten Hag's side a second consecutive 1-0 league win. The Sweden international was the fourth defender to walk off the pitch as a match-winner this season.

There were questions as to whether Lindelof would start at Old Trafford, with some supporters expecting Raphael Varane to come in for the injured Jonny Evans. But the 29-year-old was also part of a solid defensive unit.

Lindelof was the only Red in Crooks' team and the pundit also criticised wingers Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, who were 'way off the pace'.

"You could feel the relief run through Old Trafford when the final whistle came," Crooks wrote on the BBC website. "I couldn't help watching Erik ten Hag nervously pointing to his watch indicating that time was up and that the referee needed to blow the whistle.

"Manchester United were facing newly promoted Luton Town and the home side seemed a bag of nerves. Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho appeared well off the pace and low in confidence. Fortunately an unsung hero ensured United avoided a rather embarrassing draw.

"Lindelof appears to be one of those players who has come to United's rescue before - and he did it again against Luton."
