Manchester United stars have world at their feet but absent duo face uncertainty

Manchester United got a double glimpse into their future during the 3-0 victory over Everton.

Academy graduates Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo - the latter making his Premier League debut - were shining lights at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon. Garnacho set the tone with a sensational overhead kick and 18-year-old midfielder Mainoo oozed class in the engine room.

Inspired by their two young guns, United made it five wins from six to somewhat atone for early-season woes and move into sixth place ahead of a crucial Champions League trip to Galatasaray in midweek. Here are your winners and losers from the Everton game.

Alejandro Garnacho: With shades of Wayne Rooney for the finish and Cristiano Ronaldo for the celebration, the promising Argentine ignited his own United legacy with a jaw-dropping opener that wowed everybody inside the stadium or watching elsewhere. It was a real moment of genius from Garnacho. The hard work continues for him, but United have every reason to be excited about the 19-year-old after he made a big statement in a starting role.

Kobbie Mainoo: Another coming-of-age display from a United youngster. Injury has delayed his introduction this season, but Mainoo shone from his first touch to his last in a hugely-impressive Premier League debut. United have yet another top talent on their hands. It will be on Erik ten Hag and his backroom staff to nurture the Stockport-born midfielder and while expectations much be tempered there is every reason to expect big things from Mainoo as well as Garnacho.
