Steven Davis addresses Rangers future as veteran hints he has a huge decision to make

Steven Davis insists he's giving no thought to his Rangers future beyond this season.

The veteran midfielder has struggled for fitness in recent months but is desperate to get back firing before the end of the campaign.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst 's side are competing on three fronts in the Premiership, Scottish Cup and Europa League and the Northern Irishman wants to contribute to the run-in.

Davis was among Rangers ' top performers as they romped to the title last season but has been a peripheral figure this term, particularly since Van Bronckhorst replaced Steven Gerrard in November.

With his contract up in the summer, there's been inevitable speculation over whether this will be the 37-year-old's final farewell at Ibrox.

Davis himself, however, isn't paying too much attention, although did suggest he has a big decision to make in the coming months.

He told BBC Northern Ireland: “That’s nothing unusual. I’ve been in a similar situation the last couple of years and there’s no sort of pressure from that side of things.

“Basically, the most important thing for me is to get back fit and whenever I get in that rhythm I have confidence in my ability and what I can still do on the pitch.

“That’s all my focus is on at this moment in time.

“I’ve got to that stage of my career where I don’t really look too far ahead and I obviously need to see what happens in the summer with my career in general.

“My only focus at the minute is getting myself back fit and trying to get myself back into the team at Rangers for an important run-in.

“We’ll see where everything sits after that.”
