Stephanie McMahon: 10 things you didn't know about the WWE Chairwoman

Stephanie McMahon is now the most powerful person in WWE, having assumed the roles of chairwoman and co-CEO in recent months.

Her ascension to these roles came as a result of her father Vince McMahon’s retirement on July 30th of this year. Prior to that, Stephanie was an executive vice president of creative from 2006 to 2013 and then the company’s chief brand office from 2013 to 2022.

She has also been an on-screen presence for many of the years since her debut in 1999, whether it be part of the McMahon-Helmsley faction or The Authority, or as Smackdown General Manager. She has competed in many matches as well, her final being a tag team match with husband Triple H versus Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 34 in 2018.

After finishing High School in Greenwich in 1994, Stephanie went to Boston University. She graduated in 1998 with a degree in Communications.

Stephanie did not immediately become an on-screen character. Instead, she worked as a merchandise model for WWE catalogues, mostly for hats and t-shirts.

Being around the business from a young age, Stephanie got to know all of her father’s superstars. The one she had the closest bond with was Andre the Giant, who she considered her favourite wrestler growing up as a result.

With the help of Triple H and others, Stephanie defeated Jacqueline to win the Women’s Title in March 2000. The belt largely functioned as a prop and a symbol of her storyline control and summed up the state of women’s wrestling at the time.
