Johnny Gargano: 10 things you didn't know about the ex-WWE NXT Champion

Johnny Gargano is one of the most popular new stars on the WWE main roster, following on from his success in NXT.

Prior to signing with WWE in 2015, Gargano wrestled extensively on the independent scene, notably with Chikara, Evolve and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. His success continued on the Black and Gold brand, where he won singles and tag titles, the latter with Tomasso Ciampa.

After taking time off following the birth of his first child, Gargano recently returned, making his main roster debut to an enormous reaction. He has since been aligned with Kevin Owens against Alpha Academy and Austin Theory, whom he mentored in NXT.

Due to his strong relationship with Triple H, skills as a wrestler and connection with the audience, it is likely that he will feature prominently on WWE television moving forward.

Gargano’s WWE career started a near decade before he signed with NXT full-time. At only 19, he wrestled MVP on a March 2008 episode of Smackdown. He was introduced as Cedrick Von Haussen, the “Champion of Liechtenstein.” Obviously.
