Randy Orton: 10 things you didn't know about the WWE legend

Randy Orton is one of the best WWE superstars of all time, having won 14 World Titles, headlined WrestleManias and done so much more over the duration of his 20-year career.

Orton's career has seen him go from being "The Legend Killer" to the "The Viper" and "The Apex Predator" amongst other nicknames, and prior to his back-injury enforced absence, he was enjoying one of the best runs of his career with Matt Riddle as RK-Bro.

With a return to the ring hopefully coming in the new year, and despite a two-decade WWE career, it is likely fans still don't know everything about "The Viper", so GiveMeSport takes you through 10 things you didn't know about Randy Orton.

Before joining WWE, Orton wrestled for local promotion near his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, where he was trained by staff including his father Bob Orton Jr. In addition, he referred a few matches for World Organized Wrestling, where his uncle Barry worked.

It is well known that wrestling is in Orton’s blood, with references aplenty to his third-generation superstar status. His father, Cowboy Bob, has also tagged with him on occasion. Both men won Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Rookie of the Year award – Bob in 1973, Randy in 2001.

On the March 3rd, 2006 episode of Smackdown, Randy entered to the sound of “This Fire Burns” by Killswitch Engine. He quickly reverted back to his original theme music and later onto “Voices.” Upon joining the main roster later that same year, CM Punk adopted the song as his own for 5 years.

This year Orton celebrated his 20th year anniversary on the main roster. In that time, he has won 14 World Titles, with his first in 2004, 12 more from 2007-2017 and his 14th in 2020. This means he joins the likes of Hulk Hogan, The Rock Triple
