Scotland taught harsh Euro 2024 lesson in Kylian Mbappe masterclass as France survive early scare – 3 talking points

Battling Scotland were seen off by a France side brimming with superstars as Steve Clarke rang the changes with preparations for Euro 2024 ramping up.

The Tartan Army were partying in the stands with qualification for already secured but there celebrations were dampened slightly when the team lines came out with boss Didier Deschamps clearly not in the mood to boogey along with the visitors. Les Bleus took control of the game after the leveller, with Kylian Mbappe causing Nathan Patterson problems down the right. The PSG star shrugged off the full-back after a relentless series of attacks to cross in for Pavard who headed beyond Kelly.

Things went from bad to worse when Liam Cooper's tussle with Olivier Giroud saw VAR intervene. The Leeds United defender appeared to haul the striker to the ground - and Mbappe was all too happy to slot the penalty beyond Kelly.

The French remained in control and ramped up the scoreline as Kingsley Coman make an instant impact. Greizmann smashed the ball off the bar and the unmarked substitute was first to react and volley beyond Zander Clark.
