Rangers transfer news bulletin as Tavernier 'accepts' Trabzonspor offer and club make decision on Turkish bid

James Tavernier has reportedly agreed to Trabzonspor's offer of an initial two-year deal with the option of a further season - but it's claimed Rangers are holding out for more cash.

The Ibrox captain was the subject of a bid from the Turkish side earlier on Thursday night and could be on his way to team up with John Lundstram and Borna Barisic as their third signing from Ibrox this summer. It comes after Philippe Clement's admission that some players will need to move on before he can sign more - and Tavernier, at 32 and one of the club's top earners, is a likely candidate if an exit can be agreed.

Trabzonspor contacted Rangers on Thursday about a deal and it's now being claimed in Turkey that the player has agreed on a contract until 2026, with the option of a further year. But it's also claimed by Turkish transfer expert Yagiz Sabuncunoglu that their initial offer for Tavernier fell short of the Ibrox side's valuation to the tune of €1m (£840,000).

Elsewhere Rangers are back in for Tyrese Campbell - four and a half years after he snubbed the Light Blues and Celtic, according to a report.

The hitman was considered by both Glasgow sides back in January 2020 but decided to remain with Stoke City. However, he has now left the Potters with his contract up and he's now on the market as a free agent. The Daily Mail report that Rangers are among his options with a host of English Championship clubs also keen on the attacker.

And another previously linked striker in Tommy Conway has reportedly been frozen out of Bristol City training. The Scotland frontman's future has been cast in doubt after a reported falling out with Robins boss Liam Manning.
