John Fleck dreams of Rangers transfer comeback as he opens up on gut-wrenching exit from the club he utterly adores

John Fleck has revealed he’s dreaming of a return to Rangers as his heart remains with his boyhood club.

Mailsport revealed last week that the former Light Blues wonderkid is back training at Auchenhowie as he builds his fitness up after a spell at Blackburn Rovers last season. The 32-year-old admits he’s loved being amongst familiar faces at the training ground as he plots the next step in a career which includes eight years at Sheffield United where he starred in England’s top-flight.

With training facilities being provided by the Ibrox club where he earned wonderkid status as a teenager before heading down south, Fleck is considering his options but that he’d love to be part of Philippe Clement’s Rangers rebuild. He said: “Do I have unfinished business with the club? That’s not for me to say. My aim now is carve out something special in my career and there are options, I have offers in Europe and England and I now need to find the right club to kick things on.

“I’ve always said it would be a dream of mine to come back to Rangers and nothing changes in that regard. I said that If that chance came further down the line to come back then I’d love it to be honest. Who wouldn’t. This is Glasgow Rangers we are talking about, a club which is engrained in my heart.”

Fleck has three league winners medals and a Scottish Cup gong having been the youngest player to play in a major British cup final during a five year spell when he burst onto the scene as a prodigious talent and remains a popular figure amongst the Light Blues support.

It remains to be seen whether Clement would consider adding the midfielder to his ranks in a move which would bolster their need to adhere to Champions League registration rules state that clubs
