Rangers: £30k-a-week star's move has 'gathered pace' at Ibrox
Rangers could sell Glen Kamara in the final hours of the transfer window as his departure from Ibrox has ‘gathered pace’, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Gers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has spent more than £12million on bolstering his squad, but it appears there may be a big-name exit ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.
According to the Scottish Sun, Nice have set their sights on striking a £10million deal which would see Kamara swap Rangers for Ligue 1.
The report suggests the 46-cap Finland international’s representatives were attempting to thrash through a move last night, but his current employers are keen to retain his services.
It is understood that Nice have made the capture of Kamara their top priority during the final hours of the transfer window.
But the central midfielder committed his long-term future to Rangers 12 months ago, with him penning a four-year contract worth £30,000-per-week, so the Glasgow giants are in a strong negotiating position.
Although Kamara has made seven appearances since the new campaign got underway, he has only been included in the starting line-up once in the Scottish Premiership.
Jones understands that Rangers are willing to sanction Kamara’s departure if their financial expectations are met ahead of the deadline.
The transfer insider believes the 26-year-old is being targeted by Nice as they are looking to complete a squad overhaul.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “At the right price, he has always been available and the talk around Nice has certainly gathered pace.
“They are really going for it in this window and completely transforming their team.”
It has certainly been a productive summer transfer window at Ibrox, with a number of players arriving.
Rangers appear to have sealed
