Chelsea 'expecting to make two announcements' before transfer deadline at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea’s Deadline Day business on the inward front looks set to end with deals for Denis Zakaria and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The 11pm deadline is looming in the Premier League and Chelsea appear to be chasing two deals on the inward front before the transfer window slams shut.

Michael Bridge recently confirmed to GiveMeSport that the Blues had reached an agreement with Juventus that would see them sign midfielder Zakaria on loan with an option to buy. The Switzerland international is now undergoing a medical in Turin.

Meanwhile, the west Londoners have reportedly agreed a deal with Barcelona to sign former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. They’ll pay a £12m fee and allow Marcos Alonso to move to the Nou Camp.

And it now appears that could be it from the Stamford Bridge outfit on Deadline Day, with Phillips believing Zakaria and Aubameyang are their only remaining targets for the 11pm cutoff.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Phillips didn’t completely rule out further additions but believes they are unlikely at this stage.

He said: “That might be it for Chelsea tonight. I just spoke to a reliable source and he said that at the moment Chelsea are only expecting two announcements tonight – Aubameyang and Zakaria. You can’t rule out any late changes, obviously there might be something from nowhere. But Chelsea right now are only planning to announce two signings tonight.”

It’s certainly been an interesting one with some pretty significant changes to the first team squad. The Blues lost a key figure in Antonio Rudiger, who joined Real Madrid on a free transfer, and also allowed Romelu Lukaku to return to Inter Milan after just one season at the club.
