Rangers: Talks at ‘advanced stage’ over deal for 18 y/o star at Ibrox

Rangers are ‘at an advanced stage’ in contract talks with striker Robbie Ure following his impressive start to the season, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 18-year-old has worked his way into the first-team plans of manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst and looks set to commit his long-term future to his boyhood club.

Ure was handed his senior debut by Van Bronckhorst in Rangers’ Round of 16 League Cup tie against Queen of the South at Ibrox last month.

And the teenager grasped his big opportunity with both hands, scoring in the 3-1 victory over the League One outfit to announce himself to the Gers faithful.

He has also impressed for Rangers B in the Lowland League, registering two goals and three assists in seven appearances, showcasing his top-class potential.

Ure’s current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2023, and Football Insider have claimed that ‘all parties are confident a full agreement’ over a long-term deal is now close and can be ‘finalised soon’.

The Glasgow giants had a busy transfer window that saw several stars come and go, but they are now focusing on tying down their brightest young talents to fresh terms.

Rangers have lost promising youngsters such as Billy Gilmour and Rory Wilson to Chelsea and Aston Villa, respectively, in recent years, long before they have reached their full potential.

But O’Rourke believes that a positive conclusion between the reigning Scottish Cup holders and Ure is close to being reached.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “Talks are at an advanced stage, I think, between the club and Robbie Ure, so I fully expect this one to get done.”
