Philippe Clement delivers Rangers transfer reality check as finances force boss to get 'creative'

Philippe Clement says Rangers are working hard to secure their transfer 'targets' this month - but admits it's not easy in January if you don't have loads of cash to splash.

Clement has already brought in Fabio Silva but the Wolves loanee is the only new arrival so far as the window gets set to enter its third week. Fans might have expected more by this point as the Belgian gaffer and his team fly back from Spain with one eye on the domestic season resuming against Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup next weekend.

They have a friendly with Copenhagen to worry about before that as Clement runs a final eye over his players before the real stuff resumes. And the boss was quick to issue a reminder that transfers in January aren't easy - reassuring punters they are working as hard as they can behind the scenes to get targets - plural - over the line.

He told Rangers TV: "Everybody is working day and night. Everybody's working really hard on that. It's not the easiest window if you don't have the most money so you have to be creative and fast.

"That's the reality always with those things until there is a signature from somebody. So we're going to keep on working hard the next couple of weeks to get our targets."
