Pape Habib Gueye set for Aberdeen FC transfer as Senegalese striker to bolster Barry Robson's Pittodrie firepower

Pape Habib Gueye is closing in on a move to Aberdeen despite previous reported interest from rivals Hibs for his signature.

Record Sport understands the Kortrijk striker is on the brink of agreeing a deal to become a new recruit for Barry Robson who, echoed by club chief Dave Cormack, promised fans that "three or more" signings would come in to aid their upcoming Europa League adventure. The Senegalese forward was said to be the subject of transfer interest from Lee Johnson's men but reports in Belgium were ultimately shot down. The 23-year-old is free to leave the club before the transfer window closes and the Dons have moved to try and tie him down.

Gueye's move to Pittodrie will be subject to visa checks and international clearance, something the Dons were made to play the waiting game on with the signings of Slobodan Rubezic and Or Dadia this summer. Robson has moved to add firepower to his bulky squad with the likes of Leighton Clarkson and Graeme Shinnie back at Aberdeen.

They face a testing trip away to BK Hacken in the Europa League qualifying, before the Red Army will hope next week's Pittodrie showdown can seal progression in Europe.
