Aberdeen FC seal Richard Jensen transfer as Finland international signs 3 year deal at Pittodrie

Aberdeen have completed the signing of Finland star Richard Jensen on a three-year deal.

The 27-year-old centre-back has moved to Pittodrie following a one-year spell in the Polish top-flight with Gornik Zabrze, and will compete with Nicky Devlin, Jack McKenzie and fellow new signing Slobodan Rubezic for a starting berth in Barry Robson 's new-look defence and, crucially, has arrived before the Europa League playoff registration deadline.

The Finland international has won eight more caps in the last fourteen months.He moved to Górnik Zabrze in the summer of 2022, and has made 36 appearances for the first team, scoring once, helping the side to finish sixth in the Ekstraklasa last term. He will now join Aberdeen ahead of a busy domestic and European calendar and will wear the number 5 shirt.

Boss Barry Robson said: "It’s no secret that we’ve been looking to strengthen our defensive options, particularly on the left side. We’ve tracked Richard for some time but weren’t sure if we were going to be able to make a deal happen, so I am delighted we have been able to get It over the line with Górnik.

“He is a strong competitor and demonstrated his leadership qualities having been a captain in the past. He is predominantly a left-centre back and equally comfortable in a back 3 or back 4. His quality on the ball and running capacity means he’s well suited for how we want to play, and he’ll be a strong addition for the club.”
