Michael Beale opens Rangers door to Rabbi Matondo after Livingston cameo as he hints 2 exits could spark career revival

Lively Rabbi Matondo could be set for a starring role at Rangers as Michael Beale reckons Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala's exits 'opened a space' for the wide man.

The Rangers boss was speaking after his side picked up a handsome victory over Livingston even if their performance still wasn't top notch. They needed to win after defeat against Kilmarnock last week while their 2-1 victory over Servette during the week didn't set the world alight and they scored early against Livi through Sam Lammers.

They failed to put David Martindale's team to the sword from there though and some frustrations creeped in before a late flurry put it to bed. Beale rung in the changes with Matondo, Abdallah Sima and Kieran Dowell adding some directness to the attack off the bench. Sima and Dowell both notched their first Rangers goals after Danilo added a second.

Speaking after the game, Beale said on BBC Sportsound: "The game was in three parts, maybe. The first part, really good, we got one goal and then another but VAR went against us. No problem with that, but I felt after it we were a bit slow and sticky. Livi reduced the space for us and the second half started like that as well.

"It did get a bit nervy in the stadium. But I felt the changes had a big impact and there was a lot of positives by the end. We were wasteful in the middle part of the game, we had good positions and our last decision was really poor.

"The last 25, 30 minutes we got that back and that was in part thanks to Abdallah Sima and Rabbi Matondo coming off the bench.

"It was hugely important. This week they've rode every emotion, and for five of the boys to score their first goals this week, that will do them a world of good. Also Jack getting his first clean sheet
