Michael Beale makes Rangers transfer 'truth' admission and the financial case for SPFL granting Euro sides rest weekends

Michael Beale has urged the SPFL to look at giving their Euro reps weekends off between ties in future to help swell the game's coffers.

Rangers travel to Dingwall for the lunchtime Premiership kick-off on Saturday before heading to Eindhoven next week for a Champions League playoff showdown against PSV for a spot in the group stage. Their Dutch opponents were given a free week by Eredivise breaks last weekend and will get extra prep time before the home leg as well.

Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs are all in action this weekend after their respective Europa League and Europa Conference League playoff clashes as well. The Dons staged a stunning late comeback in Sweden to hold Hacken to a 2-2 draw. Barry Robson's men travel to Paisley on Sunday, while Hearts are at Dundee prior to trying to turn around a 2-1 deficit away to PAOK. Hibs were given a lesson by Aston Villa, and they host Livingston before a daunting second leg in Birmingham with the aggregate score already at 5-0.

And Beale has made a financial case for the powers that be awarding rest weekends to teams in Europe further down the line. He feels that could maybe help financially given the comparative lack of money sloshing about north of the border.

"Not just for us," Beale told Sky Sports. "I think for Aberdeen, for Hearts and Hibs it's a difficult period early in the season. We know we have so many games crammed into such a short period of time

"But it's very difficult for us with our schedule to change it. I'm not the best person to ask, but maybe in the future we can look at it, certainly because the revenue we generate in Scotland in our league is not as big as some other countries.

"The European finance coming in could be really important. Just for the future
