Mason Greenwood's first words after signing for Getafe on loan from Manchester United

Mason Greenwood has told Getafe fans he can't wait to get started after signing on loan from Manchester United.

United concluded their six-and-a-half-month investigation into Greenwood last month and the club announced that 'it would be most appropriate for him' to recommence his career away from Old Trafford.

Greenwood signed for Getafe on transfer deadline day and it's understood the La Liga club will make a small contribution to his wages, while United 'will continue to offer its support to Mason and his family during this period of transition'.

The 21-year-old has now arrived in Spain and he's officially been unveiled by Getafe as a new signing across their social media.

Getafe created an English-language Twitter [X] account last week and it's already amassed 25,000 followers. Greenwood said in a video: "Hi Getafe fans, it's Mason here. I'm so happy to be here and I can't wait to get started."

Getafe manager Jose Bordalas was recently asked about his club's signing of Greenwood and said: "It is too delicate a situation to trivialise this issue. Everybody knows what happened, the appropriate measures were taken.

"Obviously we can only talk about football, about other issues, I think, that the people and the relevant systems did what they had to do, and everybody knows how it ended - without a condemnatory sentence.

"He's a footballer of the highest level, who comes to Getafe with enormous hope. We are going to help him to recover his best level."

Getafe next play Osasuna on September 17 after the international break and Greenwood could make his debut.
