Marco Tilio sets Celtic transfer timeline as restless star issues 'ready for Europe' demand

Australian star Marco Tilio has set his own time limit on the next step in his career as he prepares for a move to Celtic.

The Melbourne City forward looks bound for Parkhead after the A-League club after the Scottish Premiership champions agreed a fee for the striker, and will become a Parkhead player after agreeing terms and passing his medical. The 21-year-old, who has 10 goals in 31 games, is highly-rated and the initial move was sparked by out-going boss Ange Postecoglou - but it will be Brendan Rodgers who benefits as he nears his second summer signing following the arrival of midfielder Odin Thiago Holm from Valerenga.

Off the back of an impressive campaign Tilio has made no secret of his desire to leave the A-League and kickstart his career outside of Oz - with the Hoops set to provide the platform to prove himself in the Champions League. He admitted to being restless back in March as he set a timeline on his next move.

Last summer he watched teammate Nathaniel Atkinson make the move to Scotland with Hearts, while fellow Socceroo Connor Metcalfe and Melbourne pal joined St Pauli. He said: "I've tried to build into being a consistent player that can perform week in week out for the club and be reliable.

"If I can do that, I think I can hopefully take the next step in my career and go overseas to Europe. I think I'm ready for that, I've faced a lot of challenges over the past three seasons but I think I'm ready."

Celtic fans will be hoping they can get the attacker in as soon as possible with his summer exit plan set to get over the line. Pre-season is set to ramp up with the club kicking off their Asian tour in Japan on July 19.
