Kieran Tierney to Celtic transfer door opens as Arsenal star will take 'significant' wage cut for blockbuster return

Kieran Tierney returning to Celtic has taken a step forward, with reports the left back would be willing to take a major hit on his wages.

Blockbuster claims emerged last month that with significant transfer backing promised as part of his own return to Parkhead, boss Brendan Rodgers could be reunited with the star he enjoyed dominant domestic superiority with before both left in 2019. Tierney was in and out of the Arsenal side last season and it has been long touted that Eddie Howe has made him a target for his Newcastle revolution.

But according to The Mirror, Tierney is 'open to a return to his hometown club and would be willing to take a significant cut in his salary.' It's also claimed 'Rodgers is keen to be reunited with the player who was a key member of his Treble winning squad.' And there could be issues in the way of Newcastle signing him.

The Scottish international is 'firmly' on the Toon radar. But 'Howe will have to trim his squad before further spending.'
