Marco Tilio swerves Ange as Celtic recruit tells Brendan Rodgers he can do 'unpredictable things' when unleashed

Aussie ace Marco Tilio might not be interested in the Ashes but the new Bhoy is hoping to bowl over Celtic supporters.

The 21-year-old won’t bat an eyelid at the cricket thanks to his football- daft family and Juventus-fan dad. And he’s hoping it’s defenders who will be left stumped as he bids to make a quick first impression – again. Tilio has previous. He scored within 75 seconds of his A-League debut for Sydney FC as an 18-year-old. A year later he was at it again when he notched against Argentina in the Tokyo Olympics with only his second touch in the Socceroos’ sensational 2-0 win.

When asked about his rapid impact debut, Tilio joked: “It wasn’t a bad start. i don’t know if it was my first or second touch but I definitely scored with my second touch at the Olympics against Argentina. Who knows? Maybe I can do it again. It would be a good first impression. I’m ready. I wouldn’t have come if I didn’t think so. For me it was the right time to come to Europe and coming to such a big club, I want to prove myself from the start.”

As an Australian, Tilio had his pick of sports as a youngster. But there was only one decision to be made given his background – and it has paid off big time. Tilio said: “It was always football for me. In school you are involved in other sports like rugby league and volleyball.

“I played some backyard cricket but that was about it! It was always football in my family with the Italian background. My dad was born in Italy and is a big football fan. He supports Juventus.

“My parents never pushed me, they just wanted me to have fun. They have been massive for me and my mum will come over and stay with me. I do everything for them. This opportunity presented itself and they encouraged me to go
