Manchester United 'willing to subsidise Jadon Sancho's wages to secure loan exit' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United look increasingly likely to offload Jadon Sancho in January and would even be open to subsidising his wages, according to reports.

Sancho has not been involved with the first-team since he was exiled from the squad during the last international break. Erik ten Hag cited poor performances in training as the reason for his omission against Arsenal, claims he essentially said were lies.

After refusing to apologise to Ten Hag, the 23-year-old was removed from the first-team picture and the Manchester Evening News understands he would be open to leaving, should he remain in the cold beyond Christmas. And now the Daily Mail reports that United are also leaning towards an exit.

Ten Hag is said to have had concerns regarding Sancho's influence on the other players and has noted an improvement in morale since his axing. The report even suggests that United would be open to paying some of his reported £300,000-per-week wages in order to secure a loan deal.

Elsewhere, Portuguese newspaper Record reports on United's continued interest in Benfica defender Antonio Silva.

Centre-back is one of four key positions identified by Ten Hag to strengthen next summer, amid growing concerns over the fitness of Raphael Varane. The 30-year-old has suffered a number of injury problems already this season and has also struggled for form.
