Manchester United 'keeping tabs on £174million Barcelona duo' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are keeping an eye on Barcelona's financial troubles with a view to approaching their exciting young talents Gavi and Pedri, according to reports in Spain.

Central midfield is one of four key areas that United want to strengthen over the next 12 months, with Erik ten Hag keen to find successors for his ageing stars. Christian Eriksen will be 32 by next summer, at which point he will enter the final year of his contract.

As such, Ten Hag is thought to be planning to add another technician and Spanish outlet SPORT names United as one of several sides with Gavi and Pedri on their radar. Barcelona remained steadfast in keeping hold of Frenkie de Jong this summer but with no sign of their financial struggles easing, could be forced into raising funds through a big-money exit.

The report suggests that Xavi's side could be open to selling at least one in a bid to raise those funds, although they are looking at every other avenue and those two names specifically are 'taboo'. Should the La Liga side opt to cash in, then they are reportedly expecting to get at least €100million (£87m).

Elsewhere, Calciomercato reports that contract talks between Napoli and long-time United target Victor Osimhen have stalled.

Ten Hag's side were seriously interested in Osimhen over the summer as the Dutchman searched for a world-class No.9. But they were reportedly put off by his price-tag and instead bought Rasmus Hojlund for £72million.
