Manchester United takeover news RECAP Man Utd sale could be 'hours' away from completion
The Manchester United takeover saga continues to rumble on.
It was in November that the Glazer family announced their intention to explore the possibility of selling the Reds. In the months that have followed United's owners have refused to provide any sort of update on how the process is going.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani are the two bidders hoping to buy the club. It is a saga that has now dragged on for over seven months and still we're no closer to knowing which of the two bids will be successful. But could today be the day?
Sheikh Jassim wants to buy the whole of the club and has vowed to wipe out their debt. Meanwhile, Ratcliffe's bid would see the Glazer family remain at Old Trafford as he'll only be purchasing a majority stake.
The transfer window is now open for business and United are on the cusp of their first signing of the summer with the addition of Mason Mount from Chelsea. More positions need strengthening, but it remains to be seen when the club's takeover will be concluded and what impact this could have on future business.

Manchester United have all but made Mount their first signing of the summer transfer window with the official announcement of the transfer expected soon. Erik ten Hag eventually got his man after seeing three initial bids rejected.
The club's fourth offer was for a guaranteed £55million which could rise by a further £5m if certain performance-related clauses are met. Mount underwent his medical on Monday and returned to Carrington on Tuesday for a photoshoot ahead of his official unveiling.
