Manchester United takeover latest as claim Sheikh Jassim could drop out dismissed

Manchester United's takeover continues to rumble onwards this week as the Glazers weigh up the proposals from Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Sheikh Jassim's offer would see him purchase the entirety of the Reds meaning the Glazers would have to exit the club. Meanwhile, Ratcliffe has proposed a bid around the 60 per cent mark which opens the door for the current owners to remain at United.

However, despite several reports suggesting the end of the takeover saga, it continues to rumble on as United supporters begin to get increasingly concerned about where the future of the club lies. Some reports suggested Sheikh Jassim may be wishing to pull out of the running thanks to the hold-up.

But, in the MEN Sport takeover headlines it is understood these rumours are false.

Speaking to The United Stand, BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone has claimed the rumours suggesting the Qatari banker was on the verge of pulling out of the deal were false. He explained: "I was told a rumour the other day that Sheikh Jassim was about to pull out. I checked that, and that was just dismissed.

"There are all kinds of rumours but ultimately people can feel the way they feel. They can be frustrated. They can believe that they're in pole position or that they're behind. It comes back to the Glazers.
