Manchester United takeover news LIVE as Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe await Man Utd decision

Manchester United's news cycle was dominated by events away from the takeover on Saturday as long-serving goalkeeper David de Gea announced his departure from the club.

Reports circulating this week have suggested the owners are unwilling to spend any further money until the takeover situation is resolved one way or another. However, De Gea's exit has left a sizeable hole in this United squad which needs filling before the start of the summer tour.

The Glazers have now had their hand forced and will need to either get the sale completed quickly or spend what is required to bring a replacement in. As the Glazers ponder this decision, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe continue to await a decision. The INEOS chief confirmed this week he still remains in the conversation to buy United but reports still suggest the Qatari banker is in pole position to win the race.

Take a look at all the latest United takeover news in our blog updates below.

According to The Mirror, Sheikh Jassim's bid has split the Glazers in two. It is understood the family are not on the same page in regards to whether to accept it or not.

Previously, it was understood Avram and Joel Glazer were wanting to remain at United while the less prominent members of the family were happy to sell up. It is unclear if this remains the case among the family but an agreement needs to be reached in order for the sale to be pushed through.
