The Manchester United takeover saga continues to rumble on.

It was in November that the Glazer family announced their intention to explore the possibility of selling the Reds. In the months that have followed United's owners have refused to provide any sort of update on how the process is going.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani are the two bidders hoping to buy the club. It is a saga that has now dragged on for over seven months and still we're no closer to knowing which of the two bids will be successful. But could today be the day?

Sheikh Jassim wants to buy the whole of the club and has vowed to wipe out their debt. Meanwhile, Ratcliffe's bid would see the Glazer family remain at Old Trafford as he'll only be purchasing a majority stake.

The transfer window is now open for business and United are on the cusp of their first signing of the summer with the addition of Mason Mount from Chelsea. More positions need strengthening, but it remains to be seen when the club's takeover will be concluded and what impact this could have on future business.

Reports have suggested Sheikh Jassim is growing increasingly confident of purchasing Manchester United ahead of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

"Still, we have the same situation where Nine Two Foundation and INEOS are in the process," journalist Ben Jacobs told GiveMeSport.

"Maybe the only difference at this point is that there's a real feeling on the Qatar side, that it will now be a case of them being successful, or a no sale, possibly with some kind of financing baked in."
