Manchester United takeover latest - Erik ten Hag sends message to Glazers as share price drops

Manchester United landed in the United States on Thursday but their American owners are no closer to making any progress regarding a takeover.

The Glazers announced in November of last year that they would 'explore strategic alternatives', paving the way for a full buyout of the club they have owned since 2005. But despite massive coverage, little palpable progress has been made in months.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani remain the two frontrunners but neither have any clarity as to whether they will be granted exclusivity. There has been no communication from the Glazer family either, only intensifying anger.

Ten Hag message

Erik ten Hag admitted on Friday that he would love to share his thoughts on the takeover with the Glazers.

The Dutchman landed in the United States along with his squad on Thursday evening as they begin their pre-season tour. Arsenal are the first opponents at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Saturday.

Speaking on Friday before his first game in the US, Ten Hag was asked about the drawn-out takeover process and how it felt being in the US with the Glazers. And the Reds boss admitted he would be open to a chat between manager and owners.

"This is a good opportunity to share ideas and we can talk informally. It is obvious I can give advice and recommendations but the decision is on the club."
