Orla Comerford fourth in 100m T13 final at World Para Athletics Championships
Following up a personal best run in her heat on Sunday, Orla Comerford came agonisingly close to claiming a bronze medal in the 100m T13 final at the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris.
The race had to go to a photo finish to crown first and second place, with Comerford's fourth place only 0.06 of a second away from the podium.
Her fourth-place finish does qualify a slot for Team Ireland for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris next summer.
Speaking after the final Comerford said, "Honestly, I’ve mixed emotions about it, I came here to be top four and I am so delighted and I can’t put into words how delighted I am to finish top four.
It takes a massive weight off me for next year. Obviously after yesterday’s run, I was hoping for bronze, but it wasn’t to be."
