Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford gives Cristiano Ronaldo goal drought prediction

Marcus Rashford is confident Cristiano Ronaldo will soon be unstoppable in front of goal once again despite the Manchester United forward's struggles this season.

Ronaldo hasn't scored for the club from open play since the end of April, with his only goal this season coming from the penalty spot in the Europa League win against Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova.

The 37-year-old is stuck on 699 goals in his club career at the moment and he had nine attempts in United's 3-2 win at Omonia Nicosia on Thursday, but couldn't find the back of the net.

Ronaldo was a threat during the game but Erik ten Hag had to call on Rashford and Anthony Martial off the bench to avert disaster, with United losing 1-0 at the interval.

That duo are in contention to start at Everton on Sunday and Ronaldo is likely to be back on the bench, having started just one Premier League game this season, the 4-0 defeat by Brentford on August 13.

He set Rashford's second goal up in Cyprus, although the ball fell to the academy graduate as a result of a mis-hit shot, and the favour was almost returned late on.

Ronaldo might be in the twilight of his career, but Rashford is still enjoying playing alongside him and believes the goals will be flowing once again sooner rather than later, with his teammates determined to help him end his drought from open play.

"He’s an unbelievable player and he’s been an unbelievable player ever since I have been watching him. It is a joy to play with him," Rashford said.
