David Beckham may have the answer to Cristiano Ronaldo's Manchester United dilemma

Gonzalo Higuain has announced that he will retire at the end of the current MLS season. He told the media: "The day has arrived to say goodbye to football. It's a profession that has given me so much and one I feel privileged to have lived with its good and bad moments."

With Higuain's retirement, Inter Miami both need a new striker and have a designated spot available to make a marquee signing. And David Beckham may be presented with the perfect opportunity to bring in a star from one of his former clubs.

Cristiano Ronaldo was Manchester United's top scorer last season with 24 goals, however, under new manager Erik ten Hag he has started just one of the club's Premier League games this season. Former United midfielder Roy Keane stated when he saw that his former teammate was on the bench for the recent defeat to Manchester City: "Man United are showing disrespect to Ronaldo. I think he should've been let go before the transfer window [closed].
