Manchester City braced for £50m transfer blow as Joshua Kimmich update emerges

Manchester City could be braced for a transfer blow involving Dani Olmo after Barcelona's proposal.

The forward was one of Spain's standout players in the Euro 2024, helping his country to European glory. City have been linked with Olmo for at least five seasons, with the forward scoring against them in the Champions League for Dinamo Zagreb in 2019.

An upbringing in Barcelona's academy adds to the appeal for Pep Guardiola. According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Olmo's agent has already received a 'firm proposal' from Barcelona in which they have offered the forward a six-year deal.

It is claimed that RB Leipzig would receive £50million (€60m). Although his £50m release clause ended on July 20, it is thought the player and his representatives have managed to get the German club to maintain that figure for a few more weeks.

Barca's proposal will now be studied by Olmo's entourage. City are mentioned as being interested along with Bayern Munich, but it remains to be seen whether the reigning champions make further additions to their squad after the announcement of Savio.

Elsewhere, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl has issued an update on Joshua Kimmich's future amid interest from City. The 29-year-old has not extended his deal with the German giants since 2021 and can become a free agent this time next year.
