£82m conundrum, Jack Grealish decision - Man City's major new season dilemmas

And just like that the new season is upon us.

Manchester City return to Wembley on Saturday to take on Manchester United in the Community Shield before the Premier League opener against Chelsea next weekend.

City are once again the team to beat having won four straight top flight titles. And while they've been quiet in the transfer window, adding only Savinho, Pep Guardiola's squad remains the envy of many.

But there are first XI questions to answer as City seek to start the season with silverware. The Community Shield won't show us much given so many star names are likely to be absent, but as summer turns to autumn we should get an indication as to how Guardiola will view his squad. We take a look at three key questions.

Ederson has been linked with a departure all window but remains in situ and while Stefan Ortega signed a new contract and has spoken of his desire to be first choice, it's hard to look past Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain's comments last term on Ederson being number and Ortega being the best number two in world football.

It won't be what the German wants to hear after penning a two-year deal but it will only be as the opening weeks unfold that the question is fully answered. It would be no surprise to see Ortega start on Saturday, particularly with Ederson having missed the final friendly with a minor injury.

You'd expect Ruben Dias and John Stones to be first choice centre back pairing with Kyle Walker and Josko Gvardiol either side, as tough as that is to take for Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji who performed to a high
