I saw what Grealish really thought about England snub - it speaks volumes for Man City

You can tell Jack Grealish is still not over this summer.

He stepped up to face the media for the first time since being omitted from the England squad for Euro 2024 and answered the questions that have been waiting for him since Gareth Southgate pulled him into his office in early June.

Grealish is never one to shy away from the difficult questions and often gives it back. This time, he wasn't in the mood for making excuses and wants to look forward. But he also insisted he should have been at the Euros and was frustrated at not playing enough for Manchester City at the end of the season.

He was careful to pick his words in Orlando, and even stopped an answer halfway through to clarify something and ensure his comments weren't taken out of context. He knows all eyes are on every word, every reaction, every bit of body language. And he's been around long enough to know the score.

Did he understand why he didn't go to Germany? "I couldn't… Well, no, not really. Because, myself, I felt like I should have been in the squad."

Grealish is sure to be respectful to the players who went ahead of him, but makes his stance pretty clear.

"If I sit here and say that I don't feel like I should have been in the squad, you're gonna be thinking, ‘What's this guy like’, you know? ‘What's he thinking?’ So, of course, I thought I should have been in the squad, I felt like I offer something different to the players in the England squad but it is what it is."
