Man City vs Burnley highlights and reaction as Haaland scores hat-trick with Alvarez and Palmer strikes

Manchester City emphatically book their place in the FA Cup semi-finals today, if they can beat Championship leaders Burnley at the Etihad.

City welcomed Vincent Kompany back to the club, as he brought his Burnley side who are flying high in the second tier. Pep Guardiola had called Kompany a future City manager in the build-up, although the Belgian distanced himself from the role as he insisted he was focused on his job at Turf Moor.

Guardiola made some changes to the side that thrashed RB Leipzig in the Champions League this week, with the likes of Stefan Ortega, Aymeric Laporte, Kyle Walker, Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez all back into the starting XI.

After a close start, another quick-fire Erling Haaland double put City in control, and he completed his second hat-trick in as many games after half-time. Julian Alvarez added a brace either side of a welcome goal for Cole Palmer as City scored six to book their place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

There's the whistle, and City are emphatically through to the FA Cup semi-finals.

They could face Man United, Fulham, Brighton, Grimsby, Sheffield United or Blackburn.

Erling Haaland with another hat-trick, taking his tally to 42 for the season, with a Julian Alvarez brace and a useful goal for Cole Palmer.

Winning that free-kick, Kevin De Bruyne took a whack to the knee and was hobbling away. He's replaced by Jack Grealish and gets a hug off the manager. Two more assists for him tonight.

Burnley are trying to keep the score at just six, and City know there's no need to make any unnecessary actions ahead of the international break.

Kevin De Bruyne wins a free kick.
