MT Helmets’ Diogo Moreira headed the Saturday times in Portimao after rain hit the Moto3 test on day two. A trio of KTMs, in the additional hands of BOE’s David Munoz and Tech3’s Daniel Holgado, locked out the top three, three tenths off the Brazilian’s consistent 1’48.353 pace with Husqvarna’s Ayumu Sasaki and top Honda Scott Ogden competing the five fastest runners, half a second adrift.

The Brit was comfortably in the top three as the final afternoon action drew to a close but it was his mid-afternoon efforts which maintained his position overall, despite a red flag for Leopard’s Jaume Masia delaying the action in FP5.

CFMoto’s pairing Xavi Artigas and Joel Kelso trailed the number 19 from sixth and seventh with Rivacold Snipers’ Romano Fenati, Sic58’s Riccardo Rossi and GasGas Aspar’s David Alonso closing out the top ten.

Josh Whatley continued his lightweight class education on the VisionTrack machine from 25th with a personal best of 1’50.090 in the mixed conditions.
