M6 traffic LIVE updates as two lanes closed following crash

Drivers are facing queues on the M6 approaching Greater Manchester following a crash.

Motorists heading towards Wigan are facing delays on the northbound carriageway, between junctions 23 at the East Lancs Road and 22 at Newton-le-Willows this afternoon (October 25).

There are two lanes closed following an incident, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring service.

A post from Inrix said: "Two lanes closed and slow traffic due to accident on M6 Northbound from J22 A49 Winwick Link Road (Newton Le Willows) to J23 A580 East Lancashire Road (Haydock).

"Lanes one and two (of three) are closed."

Queues appear to be backing up towards the M62 junction 21A, Google traffic data shows.

Further details about the nature of the collision are yet to be confirmed.
