M4 crash causes delays as heavy rain throughout the night leads to warnings and closed roads - live updates

Heavy and persistent rain across Wales has caused flooding overnight and left roads closed and travel disrupted. A yellow weather warning has been put in places across parts of south and west Wales including Cardiff, Swansea and Carmarthenshire.

Multiple roads were closed by police forces across Wales as flooding affected drivers and there are delays on the M4 after an accident left one lane closed.

Natural Resources Wales has issued a flood warning where properties are expected to see flooding as river levels rise in Peterston Super Ely. The organisation has also issued a further 21 flood alerts with roads affected across Wales.

Met Office has forecast heavy and persistent rain throughout Wales today.

The forecast states: "A bright start in the north, but cloud and rain soon arriving to bring an unsettled afternoon across the country with heavy and persistent rain, especially in the south. Staying mild, but blustery winds along the coasts. Maximum temperature 16 °C."

We will keep you updated below with weather and flood updates.
