Live updates as major rail lines delayed after car hits barrier
A car has crashed into a level crossing barrier in Cardiff. The incident happened at around 2pm on Michaelston Road, St Fagans.
The road is closed in both directions between Falconwood Drive and Castle Hill. It is expected to remain closed for some time and South Wales Police has urged drivers to avoid the area. Great Western Railway services between London Paddington and Swansea / Carmarthen and Transport for Wales between Cardiff Central and Ebbw Vale Town/ Swansea / Pembroke Dock / Maesteg are being impacted.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "The driver of a car has collided with a level crossing barrier in St Fagans on Michaelston Road, Cardiff.
"The road is currently closed in both directions between Falconwood Drive and Castle Hill. It is expected to remain closed for some time; please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. We're grateful for your patience."
