Live updates as 'serious' crash shuts stretch of major Cardiff road

A "serious" crash has led to the closure of a major Cardiff road. The A4232 has been closed westbound between Cardiff Bay and Penarth as a result of the collision.

South Wales Police has urged drivers to avoid the area while the incident is dealt with. A spokesperson said: "We are at the scene of a serious collision on the A4232.

"The road is currently closed southbound between Cardiff Bay & Penarth. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Delays are expected in the area."
