LIVE: Air ambulance lands on Tesco car park after man 'hit by car' nearby - latest updates

An air ambulance has landed on a Tesco car park as police respond to a serious incident nearby.

Emergency services are responding to an incident in Leigh this morning (May 1).

Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to a collision on Henry Street at 8am involving a car and a pedestrian.

The force said an air ambulance had landed on Tesco at Loom Retail Park while responding to the incident.

GMP says the man was airlifted to hospital. The extent of his injuries are yet to be confirmed.

A GMP Wigan spokesperson said on social media earlier: "The air ambulance has landed on Tesco Car park on the Loom Retail park in Leigh dealing with an incident nearby.

"Please be mindful of increased traffic in the area."

North West Ambulance Service has been approached for further comment.
