Live updates as go-slow protesters take to roads across Wales against 20mph default speed limit

A series of 'go-slow' protests are taking place across Wales in opposition to the 20mph default speed limit that was introduced in September. The protesters are planning to drive very slowly on major roads in protest at being asked drive 10mph slower on former 30mph roads which are overwhelmingly in residential areas.

They are part of a series of events during what campaigners are dubbing "National Convoy Day" which is being primarily organised by people opposed to London's Ultra Low Emission Zone. The protests taking place on Saturday will affect some main roads in Wales with 'go-slow' convoys driving along the A55, A483 and M4.

It comes after similar 'go-slow' protests were carried out in Wales last month which were poorly attended with only roughly 40 cars taking part in a convoy westbound on the M4.

The evidence suggests that lowering the speed limit will have a considerable impact on road safety with up to 20,000 fewer casualties over the next decade. But a new poll exclusive to WalesOnline showed last week that there remains huge opposition to the default limit a month on from its introduction. You can read more about that here.

The following 'go-slow' convoys are currently planned for Saturday:
