LIVE: Trams suspended between Greater Manchester towns due to 'police incident'

Trams have been suspended between two Greater Manchester towns this evening as emergency services deal with an incident.

All Metrolink services are currently stopped on the East Didsbury line between Rochdale and Oldham Mumps due to a 'police incident. The exact nature of the event is not yet clear.

Ticket acceptance is in place on alternative public transport. In a statement on their website, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) apologised for any inconvenience.

A statement on the website reads: "Due to a police incident, there are no services operating between Rochdale Town Centre - Oldham Mumps. Tickets and passes are being accepted on the 57, 59, 81, 83, 114, 149, 181, 182, 409, 411 bus service."

The line between Rochdale and Oldham Mumps has reopened. There are still minor delays in place, according to TfGM.
