Wythenshawe Forum evacuated after 'threats made' with police on scene

The Forum Centre in Wythenshawe has been evacuated this morning as police respond to 'threats made' to the centre.

Officers are currently on the scene at the complex off Simonsway. People have reportedly been evacuated from inside the building.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that officers are in attendance. The threats were found to be a 'hoax'.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Shortly before 9.30am today (Tuesday 16 July), we received a report that threats had been made towards The Forum Centre in Manchester. Officers attended and there is not believed to have been any genuine threat to the centre or the wider area, and officers are treating the incident as a hoax threat.

"Enquires remain ongoing. Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting incident number 770 of 16/7/24 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
